Daler-Rowney and  the wider FILA Group are committed to operating responsibly and integrating sustainability into their business model and daily operations through the Sustainability Plan, which is a cornerstone of the Group’s Strategic Plan. Activities range from reduced packaging and water recycling in manufacturing processes to programmes for increasing energy efficiency and the use of clean technologies to help combat climate change and reduce carbon footprint. Further reading on these key actions and projects can be found on the website under sustainability.

Becoming FSC certified was a natural step to partner with an organisation which has many of the same core value on ethics and sustainability. As a group, FILA is the largest worldwide supplier of Fine Art papers, with most of that paper using wood fibres. Ensuring forests and biodiversity are preserved through the FSC chain of custody is an essential element of those papers. FSC certification is a feature of nearly all Daler-Rowney artists paper products, from Ebony hardbound sketchbooks, pads of Langton watercolour papers, to the range of vibrant coloured papers in the Canford range. And it extends beyond that to other artists accessories using wood directly, such as easels, brush handles, wooden cases, and palette knives.

FSC certification is an absolute prerequisite for reputable suppliers of artists papers. Today’s consumers, and in particular those involved in the creative arts, are  growing ever conscious of the environmental impact of their choices. For wood derived products understanding how the material  has been sourced through ethical channels and companies practicing responsible forestry is one of the key features consumers will have in mind when considering purchases. By seeing the FSC logo at a glance they can feel comfortable that the item has been manufactured sustainably.
