Our sustainability journey
Our 2030 ambition is to become and remain a trusted sustainability leader in our market. In order to do so, we’ve identified three key initiatives that we need to achieve. These are:
- Becoming circular at scale – ensuring good performance both at start and end of life for our products and product lifecycles.
- Going net zero – we’re aiming to be at net zero for scope 1 & 2 emissions by 2030 with scope 3 following by 2050, using science based targets to track our progress. For reference scope 1 emissions deal with direct emissions from owned or controlled sources whilst scope 2 involves all indirect emissions from the purchase of energy. Both are classified under the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Initiative otherwise known as the GHG Protocol, which is a global standardised framework to measure and manage greenhouse gas emissions from both the private and public sector.
- Living the change – essentially walking the talk and focusing on real improvements such as being a good place to work, securing a good and accountable supply chain including the certification of raw materials.
We are dependent on paper fibre raw materials for the majority of our products so, we want to promote responsible and sustainable use of forests to ensure they are preserved for current and future generations to enjoy. Our Dunilin® linen feel napkins, Evolin® & Dunicel® table covers, tissue napkins, cutlery pockets and napkin dispensers are all made from FSC-certified materials and we are aiming to have all our products certified to the FSC standard in the near future.

Fossil fuel-free napkins
Our new Bio Dunisoft® napkins offer the next generation of sustainability for the hospitality industry. They are made from FSC mix materials and, in an industry first, the glue binder used in our previous materials to ‘hold’ the paper together has now been replaced with a renewable and bio-based material, made from excess food waste such as lemon peel and corn (watch the video below to see how they're made). The result is a fossil fuel free napkin, without a loss in the premium quality we’ve become known for.
Added benefits include lower carbon emissions compared to previous materials, home compostability, improved end of life options and the utilisation of food waste as a step towards a circular economy. Available in over 20+ colours, our Bio Dunisoft® napkins enable customers to create and enjoy #goodfoodmood whatever the occasion and are already being used in hotels, restaurants, golf clubs and more across Europe.
