The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) UK have re-launched their education programme ahead of FSC Forest Week (21-27 September).
Visit https://uk.fsc.org/education for lesson plans, activities, presentations, videos and other resources to support learning about forests, forest-based materials, deforestation, forest management and FSC certification. Schools and youth or home education groups can also register for FSC Forest Week - there's no better time to learn about forests and FSC!
Held annually, FSC Forest Week (formerly FSC Friday) is a worldwide campaign which aims is to inspire people to act by choosing FSC-certified products when they shop.
The webpage currently features and introduction to FSC, designed primarily for Key Stage 3 (KS3) and upper Key Stage 2 (KS2), a Key Stage 3 (KS3) lesson plan to support learners to investigate natural resources from forests and the products made with them, and a Key Stage 2/3 (KS2/3) lesson plan exploring the links between the school and the forest environment and facilitating the identification of practical ways to reduce the school’s environmental impact. There are also useful links to other organisations providing free, quality education materials about forests and the environment.
FSC UK will be further developing their educational offering over the coming months and years, those interested in keeping up with developments, can sign up for education news and updates from FSC UK.
