This is a guest article written by Antonio Iannelli, Remail's Owner.

Remail began with a simple belief: greeting cards could be more thoughtful, more sustainable, and less disposable. Too often, cards are carefully chosen and written with care, only to be thrown away within days. In fact, only around 25% of greeting cards are recycled, meaning the vast majority are used once and end up in landfill or incineration. That didn’t sit right with us.
The idea for Remail emerged in 2023 from a simple question: what if greeting cards were designed to be reused? By rethinking the interior of the card, we created a format that encourages recipients to pass it on after they’ve enjoyed it. Instead of being a single-use product, the card continues its journey, extending its life and encouraging more circular consumer behaviour.
Today, Remail collaborates with a growing roster of independent artists and designers to create considered, sentiment-led greeting cards designed with reuse in mind.
How it works

Remail is a greeting card publisher focused on thoughtful design and more sustainable ways of sending cards.
Our cards are reusable. Each card features a perforated fold and is printed on the inside-left in postcard format. This makes it easy for the recipient to detach the front of the card and reuse it as a postcard, giving the card a second life rather than discarding it after a single use.
By rethinking how the inside of a greeting card works, Remail encourages recipients to pass the card on and keep it in circulation for longer. This small design change helps turn a traditionally single-use product into something more circular and long-lasting.
While Remail primarily operates as a greeting card publisher supplying retailers, customers can also purchase cards directly through the Remail website and through marketplaces such as Not On The High Street. Remail also sells cards in person at local markets, helping connect customers directly with the brand and the designers behind the work.
Circularity at the core of production
Sustainability has been a core principle of Remail from the beginning. The cards themselves are designed for circularity. By encouraging reuse, these cards are intended to stay in circulation longer than traditional greeting cards, challenging the category's disposable nature.
Every card is produced using 100% recycled card stock, reducing reliance on virgin materials while maintaining high standards of quality and print. Wholesale production is carried out on demand, cards are only printed when ordered, which minimises unnecessary waste and excess inventory.
These decisions reflect a broader belief that design and sustainability should go hand in hand.
Why FSC matters to Remail
Remail chose to become an FSC promotional licence holder (FSC®N004749) because it is one of the most recognised and trusted systems for responsible forest management.
Working with FSC-certified suppliers helps ensure that the paper used in Remail’s greeting cards supports the responsible use of the world’s forest resources. Becoming an FSC Promotional Licence Holder allows Remail to communicate this commitment clearly to customers, providing reassurance that where they see the FSC label, the forest-based materials in the greeting cards are recycled.
For Remail, FSC’s work aligns closely with the brand’s mission: encouraging more thoughtful consumption and demonstrating that beautiful, meaningful design can also support the planet.
