10 years ago, FSC and NorthSide agreed that together we should ensure responsible use of the festival's wood, cardboard and paper. A collaboration we are really proud of. For example The festival's purchasing policy prescribes the FSC label on newly purchased wood, and there is a requirement that the food packaging of the stand holders, such as fries trays and burger pockets, must be FSC-certified or made from alternative materials,

Together with the festival and in dialogue with the external suppliers and stallholders, FSC Denmark has advised on FSC-certified packaging, found challenges and created innovative solutions in relation to both new packaging products and minimising waste on the site.
For 10 years, NorthSide has had high ambitions for responsibility, tested solutions that later became the norm and made demands on their stallholders and suppliers. This has been demonstrated in their uncompromising choice of plant-based food served with FSC-labelled packaging, the phasing out plastic cutlery, serving organic beer, using a cup deposit system, etc.
FSC Denmark's network for circular economy at festival
In 2024, FSC and NorthSide hosted a large workshop on circularity at the festival, where FSC Denmark's strong network for circular economy gave their take on the festival of the future as inspiration for NorthSide and future initiatives. Martin Thim, Partnership & Sustainability manager at DTD Group, hosted a tour of the festival site with a focus on the circular solutions the festival has put in place.
