As one of the fastest growing fibres in the textile industry today, tree fibres or manmade cellulosic fibres (MMCFs) have emerged as a renewable alternative – yet true sustainability can only be achieved when MMCFs are certified and sourced responsibly. Unfortunately, still over half of MMCFs sourced by the fashion industry are not certified, leaving forests and the people that rely on them vulnerable to deforestation and biodiversity loss.
So how can we protect forests while transitioning towards more sustainable fibre alternatives?
In short, by working together. Today more than ever cooperation and collaboration throughout the value chain is key to mitigating any further harm to the world’s forests.
