The Forest Knowledge Gateway, launched in early September 2025, is a science-based platform which has been thoughtfully designed for key forest stakeholders engaged with restoration, biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation and integrative forest management.

On the Gateway, you can explore the latest knowledge from forestry and conservation science and practice.  Envisioned as a long-term and dynamic platform, the Gateway is continuously updated with new insights, tools, and practical guidance. Users can browse a growing library of resources from case studies and good practices to stories or educational materials, organised by topic, restoration and management purpose, geographic region and more.

Forest Knowledge Gateway

Professionals such as Landowners & Practitioners, Planners & Implementers, Policy Actors, and Funders & Investors, can access tailored user journeys to get a carefully curated synthesis of the most relevant knowledge, based on typical barriers and enablers for forest restoration. For more specific guidance, the platform offers a set of  “Guidelines”, covering areas such as Monitoring, Forest Restoration Practices, and Upscaling guidelines.

As a bonus, users can interact with our Frog bot, a unique AI tool created to guide them through their Gateway experience and help them access the information they need.

Contributions are welcome and encouraged! Please contact forestknowledge@efi.int to share your knowledge on our platform.

The Forest Knowledge Gateway, led by the European Forest Institute, has been developed in close collaboration with a wide range of forest research organisations and key stakeholders from forestry and conservation practice, and is supported by policy actors. It is funded by the European Union under Horizon 2020 (SUPERB Project) and HorizonEurope (TRANSFORMIT project).
