Labels may be small part of a product’s packaging, but they are essential to enable consumers to identify and find out more about a product. By opting for responsibly sourced and produced labels, brands and businesses can go one step further on their sustainability journey.
UPM Raflatac has risen to the challenge of sustainable packaging by producing sustainable and innovative label materials serving a variety of end-use areas including food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, home and personal care, retail and logistics. Founded in the 1970s, the company now employs 3,000 people and manages 10 factories and a wide network of sales offices and distribution terminals worldwide.
UPM Raflatac RAFNXT+ product range uses FSC-certified papers and boasts the world’s first label material verified by the Carbon Trust to help mitigate climate change.
RAFNXT+ enables a superior carbon performance compared to standard labels through smarter use and choice of raw materials. The label face materials and release liners are FSC certified. The impact of choosing RAFNXT+ over standard label material is quantified, and it includes the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and the forests’ increased capacity to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The calculation model is verified by the Carbon Trust and is in accordance to international greenhouse gas accounting standard PAS 2050.
“Businesses are looking for concrete solutions for creating a more sustainable future and especially for playing their part in climate change mitigation. With RAFNXT+ range, we offer brand owners and our customers labeling solutions that have a lower carbon footprint and that support responsible management of the world’s forests”, says Satu Leppänen, Sustainability Manager, UPM Raflatac.
