Back in December we told you about the interesting turn our Small Woods project had taken, resulting in not one but two draft standards. At that point we mentioned our intention of submitting one of those standards as an input to the formal process to review and revise the UK Woodland Assurance Standard (UKWAS).

In July we told you about the start of the formal process to review UKWAS 4, the user-friendly version of our national forest stewardship standard, and to decide whether it needs to be revised. The deadline for stakeholder input was 31 August, and we hope that many of you have taken the opportunity to share your views on the standard.

We love forests! For more than 25 years we’ve been working to take care of them for future generations. On September 25, 2020, the Forest Stewardship Council will be hosting ‘FSC Friday’ an annual event to raise awareness for FSC by encouraging consumers, companies, communities and stakeholders to share your commitment to FSC and responsible forestry - whether through forest management practices, or sourcing and buying FSC certified materials and products.
