The Larch Cladding Company specialises in the production of high-quality timber products, including larch, cedar and Douglas fir in a variety of cladding profiles; a landscaping range comprising battens, sleepers and decking; and building materials such as shingles and posts. Based in the foothills of the Clwydian Range in Northeast Wales, we can proudly say that sustainability is at the heart of our operation.

We source our timber from local, responsibly managed forests wherever possible, and we are FSC Chain of Custody certified (FSC®C134890), ensuring environmental stewardship. We provide highly durable and aesthetically pleasing timber solutions that contribute directly to the preservation of our natural heritage.

Sustainability is built-in to our operations

The Larch Cladding CompanyWithin our sawmill, we adopt lean manufacturing principles and follow a strict zero-waste policy. Sustainability is not simply a commitment we strive to achieve; it is built into every aspect of our operation. All waste from our custom-cut timber is converted into other products for our sister companies. Offcut timber supplies JD Logs with firewood, and all sawdust is processed into SawSand®, a highly absorbent, low-dust horse bedding. Anything that cannot be used commercially is fed into our biomass boiler, which heats our sawmill, drying kilns, drying floors, and offices.

Commenting on our cyclical manufacturing processes, Managing Director Mathew Davies said: "This holistic approach ensures we maximise our resources while minimising our environmental impact. By continuing to embrace modern methods of working, we not only enhance our product range but also set new standards in responsible forestry and timber practices."

Thanks to its durability, weather-resistance and natural aesthetic, our cladding range is a popular material choice for both residential and commercial projects. An increasingly attractive modern method of construction, timber is especially well-suited to Passivhaus and retrofit projects. We work with architects, developers and homeowners to identify the profiles and finishes that are most appropriate for their unique projects.

Why choose FSC?

The Larch Cladding Company FSC certificate
Mathew Davies with our FSC certificate

Procuring from an FSC-certified manufacturer helps you meet environmental and net-zero targets, which in turn increases your market credibility. From an environmental perspective, you can trust that all FSC-certified products are supporting responsible forest management. This means that the forest's biodiversity is actively maintained and that forests are harvested without incurring a net loss over time.

Of course, FSC certification offers more than just environmental benefits. It also promotes social and economic advantages by lobbying for fair wages, safe working conditions and respect for workers' rights. Many governments and organisations now prefer or are required to procure FSC-certified products, not only for environmental and commercial reasons but also because it helps them meet certain regulations and standards.

Having FSC Chain of Custody certification signifies our commitment to long-term sustainability and ethical procurement, as well as our alignment with global environmental targets. Sourcing local, FSC-certified timber from Welsh forests assures our customers that it comes directly from responsibly managed forests that operate under strict environmental, social and economic standards.

We are very proud of our FSC certification and the value it brings to our clients' projects. We recommend that anyone looking to incorporate responsibly sourced timber into an upcoming scheme or wishing to showcase environmental credentials through the use of FSC-certified timber should speak with us early in the planning process to fully understand the benefits and ensure the best possible outcome for their project.
