Connecting Forests, Businesses, and Nature Action
It’s easy to measure the economic value of forest products, but the other vital services provided by forests can be harder to quantify. FSC Verified Impact provides forest managers and owners with a framework for protecting these benefits and scientifically measuring the impacts of their efforts. Impacts can be verified for biodiversity conservation, storing carbon, purifying water, regenerating soil, and providing recreation.
By making the ecosystem services measurable and visible, it strengthens the case for conservation and opens the door to financial sponsorship opportunities by matching forest projects to businesses, financial institutions and public organisations. As a project sponsor, you will have access to credible, verified data around the real-world environmental and social impact that the project is having. This allows you to communicate the positive impacts of your investments and your contribution to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to your stakeholders.

Benefits For Sponsoring Organisations
-
Quantifiable Data
Credible, quantifiable evidence of positive environmental impact using clear, standardised metrics that are understood by all stakeholders. The data enables sponsors to take action within or beyond their value chain; and report progress on their sustainability commitments including SBTi, GHG, Protocol, CDP, TNFD and GRL.
-
Detail-Oriented Claims
Communicate confidently with well-structured claims and impact statements built with the trust and trademark of FSC for data-driven storytelling.
-
Three Layers of Verification
In addition to independent validation of the data, FSC system verifies that activities are connected to outcomes and data; that data comes from certified forests; and the claims that sponsors can make. This ensures high‑integrity, evidence‑based communication, reduces greenwashing risk, and allows sponsors to use FSC‑trademarked claims with confidence for reporting, marketing, and stakeholder engagement.
-
Transparency
Publicly available dashboard with high integrity, independently audited data on the forests and their sponsors (whilst anonymising commercially sensitive data). This verified evidence can be used to meet eligibility criteria for nature‑related finance, support Payments for Ecosystem Services, justify results‑based payments, and track progress towards ecosystem services and nature‑positive targets.
