A number of brands and manufacturers in the fashion and textile industries have already joined the Fashion Forever Green Pact – a call for them to take immediate action to ensure responsible sourcing on behalf of the world’s forests. We are now asking consumers to join the pact too!

The fashion industry’s current sustainable textile alternative comes from man-made cellulosic fibres (MMCFs). MMCFs are the fastest growing share in global fibre production. However, over 50% are sourced from uncertified forests[i], leaving them vulnerable to deforestation and illegal logging.

Other natural materials, such as rubber and cork, are also in high demand. They too act as a renewable, forest-friendly choice – but only when sourced responsibly. FSC certification is a proven solution in verifying supply chain commitments.

Korean clothing manufacturer, Sae-A Group recently announced that they had joined the Fashion Forever Green Pact, committing to scaling up the use of FSC-certified regenerated fibres, including modal and viscose, across its core production lines.

The fashion industry is at a turning point, moving away from fossil-based materials that produce harmful microplastics. Consumers have the power to drive this change by choosing responsibly sourced, bio-based alternatives.
