The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is pleased to announce the establishment of a stakeholder working group involving Romanian and international interest groups representing economic, social and environmental sectors to lay the groundwork for a roadmap process following FSC’s disassociation from the Schweighofer Group (HS).

The revised draft of the FSC national forest stewardship standard for the UK has received conditional approval from FSC International’s Policy and Standards Committee (PSC).

Although once common throughout Britain, the pine marten is now one of the rarest mammals in the UK, after undergoing huge declines in the 19th century. By 1915, pine martens were almost extinct in Britain, with the exception of the North-West of Scotland and the uplands of Northern England and Wales where the species survived. Since the mid-20th century, the Scottish pine marten population has been recovering well, but unfortunately that has not been the case in England and Wales.
