Greg Moore, director at FenCert, recognised the challenge the complex process could pose to small businesses and so, equipped with two decades of experience, developed an FSC Group Scheme that has gone on to become the largest of its kind.
The protection of workers’ rights has always been part of FSC’s Principles and mandatory for forest management certificate holders, and now, social requirements are also included in the FSC chain of custody (CoC) standard. These requirements aim to ensure that the protection of workers’ rights is firmly tied to a company’s FSC certificate. FSC has produced guidance for contractors, subcontractors and outsourcers on these requirements.
